We had time to do a few shorter hikes while we were in the Portland area. We decided to go to Multnomah falls, which we learned once we got there is the second tallest waterfall in the United States.
This was the view from down at the bottom where you park and at the visitor center.
We decided to hike the 1.2 miles and 600 feet of gain to get to the top of the waterfall. To be honest the view of the waterfalls is way better at the bottom, but it is a fairly pretty view along the way.
One of my favorite things about the forests in Oregon is all of the neat kinds of trees and moss that we don’t have in Colorado.
It was a cloudy kind of dreary day but I would imagine on a sunny day the view looking out into the gorge is probably even more pretty.
You can also just hike part of the way up and go to the first bridge.
At the top there were some pretty smaller waterfalls that you couldn’t see from down below.
Not my favorite waterfall hike that I’ve ever been to, but I always appreciate seeing a new waterfall!
