On May 30th, 2016 we hiked to the top of Arizona- Humphreys Peak at 12,633 feet. We arrived at the trailhead at 11pm after having spent the day hiking in Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. We then spent the next hour getting our gear ready and our packs loaded. We then bundled up in the car and attempted to get 3 hours of sleep before starting out our hike!
Can you see why Humphreys is called “Arizona’s Little Colorado?”
Making the final push to the summit!
I’m not sure why, maybe it was the 3 hours of sleep, or who knows what- but for some reason my face is swollen in all of these pictures lol.
We started so early that despite the fact that Humphreys has hundreds of people hike it each day, we had the summit all to ourselves! So this time we had no choice but to take a selfie!
Headed back down, glad we had our microspikes for this hike!
11 highpoints completed!
