So I’m at the point where I can’t even count how many times we have been to Capitol Reef National Park! Capitol Reef and Rocky Mountain are definitely our two most visited National Parks.
One of the really neat things about Capitol Reef is that it has orchards where they plant fruit and a wide variety of things are available to pick depending on the time of the year.
We never seem to hit the timing right for fruit picking, so this time we actually planned ahead and made sure we would be there during apple and pear picking season.
Capitol Reef is pretty much on the way back from Las Vegas, so this stop didn’t add too much time to our drive home.
Jeb and I have picked fruit together a few times before and this is always something we enjoy! Being apple lovers we were excited to pick apples!
The national park service actually tells you that you are allowed to eat as much fruit as you want while you are picking and you only have to pay for however much you take home. This is a pretty awesome policy!
This deer was also enjoying eating the fruit!
Jeb tried the ladder technique for picking but we decided we actually preferred the long grabber things.
We ended up taking home 20 pounds of apples and they were delicious! With these apples I made: apple cider, applesauce, baked apples, apple crescents, and more apple recipes. 🙂
Capitol Reef is so pretty. We had a nice day too yet!
You really can’t beat picking apples in a beautiful national park, while being allowed to eat as many of them for free while you pick!
